4 1/2 Questions with Rayne Houser

At PA On Stage, we’re always trying to find out more about the people who make up the theatre community.  So, we came up with our 4 1/2 Questions.

For those of you who haven’t been  paying attention over the last few months, that’s 4 specific, getting-to-know questions from the PA On Stage team — and one partial question that our interviewees can ‘make their own.’

This week? 4 ½ Questions with actor and student Rayne Houser, a senior at the Capital Area School for the Arts in Harrisburg. Rayne has appeared in dozens of  student and professional productions, and will be attending New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in Fall 2022.

1. What is your favorite comfort food?

My favorite comfort food is pho. The first time I had pho was with one of my best friends. We sat outside on his patio, and the cool spring breeze with the warm soup was a perfect combination. I vividly remember one of his dogs trying to grab my food, but she did not succeed. Every time I have it now, I think of that time and it always makes me feel warm.

2. What is your favorite footwear and why?

My favorite footwear has to be my Birkenstock sandals. You would think they aren’t super comfortable, but it’s the only shoe I own that does not hurt my feet. If I could buy an unlimited amount of Birkenstock sandals, I would in a heartbeat.

3. Besides acting, if you had to teach a class today, what would you teach?

If I had to teach a class today, I would want to teach Criminology. I took a class on it a few years back, and I absolutely loved learning about motivation and the intricacies of human behavior. I wouldn’t call myself a criminology expert, however, I think some of the best teachers learn with the class.

4. If you could choose any person to be the voice of your GPS, who would it be?

This one was a hard one, but I think if I had to pick, I would choose someone like John Cena . I tend to miss turns when I use a GPS, so I think it would help if I had someone aggressively yell through the GPS to make me more likely to not miss a direction. Also, the voice I have in my Google Maps is insanely quiet, so I need someone who is more confident and assertive when telling me where to go. Gertie, my GPS, doesn’t like to raise her voice.

1/2 What is your least -

favorite flavor of ice cream? Mint chocolate chip. I’m super particular about my ice cream, and mint chocolate chip usually disappoints me. I think if you could replace the chocolate chips for Oreos, I would enjoy it much more. I’m very attached to ice cream – it’s a support system for me – so I usually go a Peanut Butter Ripple or Moose Tracks flavor.
