4 1/2 Questions with Rachita Menon

At PA On Stage, we’re always trying to find out more about the people who make up the theatre community.  So, we came up with our 4 1/2 Questions: four specific, getting-to-know questions from the PA On Stage team — and one partial question that our interviewees can ‘make their own.’

Rachita Menon is the founder and Artistic Director of the Rasika School of Dance which is in its 14th year of operation. She is also the co-director of Panchatantra Tales, which opens at Gamut Theatre on April 8.

1. What fictional character do you most identify with and why?

I definitely identify with “Monica” from Friends. That was my favorite show growing up in India and I remember how excited I used to get to watch it every week!

I am a total clean freak like Monica. I also love organizing and planning, and I have a sweet tooth just like Monica.

2. What is one fear you’ve managed to overcome?

The fear of being judged

3. What piece of clothing do you own that you really should get rid of, but just can’t?

Actually I don’t have one…I am known to discard the things the minute they rip.

I have a reputation for throwing things away!

4. When was the last time you wrote a letter?

I think the last time I wrote a letter was when I was engaged to my husband in 2000. It was a true romantic letter!

½   Where were you when –

9/11 happened?   I was in Charleston, WV. watching the news that morning and my husband had called to say they were being let out early from work…it was that day the flight that crashed in Shanksville, PA, flew right over WV before it was brought down by the courageous men and women aboard it.
