In a gloomy kitchen in a lonely farmhouse, Mrs. Wright is found in her rocking chair, unconcerned and distant, as her husband lay in their bed upstairs, strangled to death. As the sheriff searches the house for clues to help convict the quiet wife, two neighbor women make a horrifying discovery.
