About Classics Fest:
Classics Fest is a week-long festival of plays and performances that celebrate diversity and classic works and is hosted by Gamut Theatre Group, Central PA’s only professional theatre dedicated to telling classic stories in new and exciting ways. The festival coincides with Gamut hosting the international Shakespeare Theatre Association (STA) Conference in Harrisburg, PA.
STA holds an annual conference in January each year, hosted by a member company. Gamut Theatre Group has been a member of STA since 1996, and Gamut’s Executive Director, Melissa Nicholson, served as President of STA in 2018 and 2019. Typically, 200 participants from Shakespeare companies all over the nation and world attend the annual gathering.
2022’s STA conference theme is “The Power of Reinvention,” and features a strong emphasis on community partnerships.
For a full description of Classics Fest’s productions, as well as details about the STA’s activities, history, and partnerships, visit Gamut Theatre’s website at the link below.
